Welcome to ScriptGym

Just about every year, there seems to be another new diet and exercise book and another screenwriting book. If you plug “diet book” into the search box at Amazon, you’ll come up with…

212,644 entries.

212,644!!
Put in “exercise” and you whittle that down UP to…
239,091!!
Motivational books come in at:  176,266 books.
Screenwriting books, at least, are more manageable at only…
11,531 entries.
Whew.   At least we need only get through eleven thousand books to learn how to write screenplays.
But, if we want to learn:
  • how to exercise;
  • how to eat right;
  • how to write screenplays; and
  • motivate you to do all of those things together??
Well, then you would need to get through about 539,532 different books on the subject.  Over HALF A MILLION BOOKS! (who KNOWS how many blogs, Instagram posts, Tweets, etc.)
FOR DIET AND EXERCISE, nearly EVERY possible newfangled and old-fangled way of losing weight has been written:
  • ALL PROTEIN,
  • NO PROTEIN,
  • LOW GLUTEN,
  • NO GLUTEN,
  • RAW,
  • LOW GLYCEMIC

  • LACTOSE FREE
Some have the names of food on which it is based –
  • The Grapefruit Diet
Some have the names of the doctor or nutritionist who formulated it,
  • The Atkins Diet
  • The Pritiken Diet.
Some are even named after the suburb north of New York that it was founded or the wealthy Los Angeles enclave of movie stars:
  • The Scarsdale Diet
  • The Beverly Hills Diet.
If that weren’t enough, you’ve got
  • NO CARBS
  • LOW CARBS
  • ALL CARBS
  • NO FAT
  • KETOSIS DIET (WHATEVER THAT IS!)
  • OLIVE OIL DIET
  • The 40/30/30 PLAN
  • HIGH CALORIE
  • CALORIE RESTRICTIVE.
THERE’S EVEN ONE BASED ON A CAVEMAN DIET – PALEO!!
Where do you even start?!
As for exercise, you can add in
  • muscle development,

You get the idea. It is Insanity!!
As for screenwriting books, the same can really be said.
  • Writing from the Soul,
  • Writing from the Heart,
  • Writing from the Right Brain,
  • (Writing from the Left Brain)
  • Script,
  • Screenplay,
  • Save the Cat,
  • Story,
  • Nobody Knows Anything
  • How to Write a Script,
  • How to Write a Script in 21 Days,
  • How NOT to Write a Script in 21 Days…
  • Oh, and one of my favorites, “Your Screenplay Sucks.”
I could go on……but the point is, there is a host of information out there, some of it good, some of it very good, but it can be somewhat overwhelming.
ScriptGym assimilates the information from those half a million+ books and give you a comprehensive, motivational guide to both exercising your body and screenwriting creativity, together, as both work in tandem.
Will it tell you WHAT TO WRITE?
No!!
Oh.
This book’s purpose is NOT to tell you HOW to write a script.  Or even how to exercise. (It will give you the basics, don’t worry.  We won’t leave you in the lurch.)
(HELPFUL HINT, HOWEVER: Write what you know, or, better, write what interests or excites you. That’s a good start, especially if you plan on living with the script for several months, maybe longer if it’s as successful as you hope it will be.)
There are plenty of great books on the craft (or art) of screenwriting as we’ve noted.
ScriptGym is about getting you to actually sit down and write.
To put it down on paper.
Utilizing exercise/s physical, mental and creative, to you get active, actively writing, actively selling, actively working.
And to KEEP you working, physically and creatively, over the course of 90 Days, in which time you will see immeasurable change in both areas.
As Thomas Edison said, Sticking to it is the genius.”
